Two Podiums for Team 104+ at Alpine Horizon

In their first appearance in the Grid Life GLTC racing series, the combined efforts of Braunschweig Racing, 104+ Performance and Sopwith Motorsports achieved a pair of third-place finishes and two fourth-place finishes last weekend at the Alpine Horizon Festival.

The 1.3-mile road course at Pike’s Peak International Raceway provided tight racing and endless entertainment throughout the three-day event. In his first-ever race at the track, 104+ Performance driver Stephen Cox went from ninth on the grid to third at the checkered flag after leading nearly half of the race.

“There was a lot of confusion on the start after a couple of drivers near the front of the field jumped early,” Cox said. “I was unable to see the flagstand from my position so I just started racing when some others seemed to hesitate. That helped us gain a lot of positions early on, but we were able to back it up in the race itself. We posted the third quickest lap time of the finishers.”

Cox led two of the weekend’s four GLTC race events at some point, scoring two fourth-place finishes on Saturday and another podium on Sunday afternoon. That performance gave the team a third-place finish in the Alpine Horizon overall points championship. The third of the weekend’s four race events can be seen here.

The team hopes to rejoin the Grid Life tour in early October at Michigan’s Gingerman Raceway, where Cox holds the World Racing League single-lap speed record.
