When the green flag falls for back-to-back World Racing League sportscar events at Michigan's Gingerman Raceway this weekend, Stephen Cox will be among four team drivers at the wheel of the #117 Braunschweig Racing Corvette.
Cox is slated to drive for the Minnesota-based team in the Plasma-Tracks Trophy Run, comprised of a 9-hour endurance race on Saturday, August 29, and a separate 7-hour race on Sunday. It will be Cox's first events in Braunschweig's 1999 C5 Corvette after driving for BMW and Porsche teams for much of the year.
This has been an amazing season for Cox, despite abbreviating his racing schedule to accommodate television commitments. Cox has scored 5 podiums in his last eight races (including one win) and hasn't finished outside the top five in 2015.
Driving for Matt Peterson's Braunschweig Racing places Cox in yet another competitive car with a quality team. Braunschweig is coming off consecutive podium finishes at Raceway Park of the Midlands near Omaha three weeks ago.
The team arrives on Thursday for practice on Friday, with the first endurance event beginning at 8 am on Saturday.
