Mecum Returns to Dallas

Categories: TV News.
More than 1,100 collector cars will be offered at auction during Mecum’s Second Annual Dallas Auction, to be held Sept. 5-8, 2012 at the Dallas Convention Center.

After a hugely successful inaugural auction in 2011, the Dallas Auction has nearly doubled in size in only its second year, and will kick off with a special exclusive offering on Wed., Sept. 5 with “The Cars of Hallbrook”, 96 vehicles from a vast collection of significant American automobiles and will broadcast live on Discovery’s Velocity Network co-hosted by John Kraman, Bill Stephens, Scott Hoke and Sopwith's Stephen Cox.

The Cars of Hallbrook constitute some of the rarest, most exclusive American automobiles in existence, with strong emphasis on minimal mileage and maximum originality, highlighted by award-winning Lincolns and Corvettes. Something for every taste will be offered from the collection, from an all-original
1969 Corvair 500 (Lot W5) with an astounding 25 miles on the odometer and fully optioned 2005 Ford GT (Lot W49) with 1,020 miles, to a 1966 Chrysler LeBaron Crown Imperial (Lot W90), a gift from Chrysler Corporation to Pope Paul VI on the occasion of his visit that year to the United States.

The excitement will continue for three more days afterwards, as some of the world’s finest muscle cars cross the block at the Mecum Dallas Auction, including the famed Packer Pontiac-sponsored
1963 Pontiac Catalina 421 Super Duty "Swiss Cheese" drag racer (Lot F195), the most famous of only 14 cars ever built, the Ault-James Speed Shop 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne 409/409 HP factory Super Stock racer (Lot F261) and the 2009 Goodguys Street Machine of the Year, an artfully Resto-Modded 1962 Corvette C1RS (Lot S135.1).

The auction takes place Sept. 5-8, 2012 at the Dallas Convention Center, 650 South Griffin Street, Dallas
