Cleveland, OH – The THIKtees.com 100 came to an abrupt halt for Sopwith's Stephen Cox after only a handful of laps when his smoking #45 Gearhart Racing Chevy S-10 ARCA race truck rolled to a stop on pit road.

The Gearhart Racing team had put forth an extraordinary effort to field the truck but had been plagued by issues throughout the day. Cox was never physically comfortable inside the cockpit and the newly-acquired truck hadn't been completely dialed in. The result was an 11th-place qualifying run.

The ignition began malfunctioning the moment the green flag dropped. The Gearhart truck immediately dropped five positions before Cox pulled into the pits.

“When smoke started rolling out from under the hood, it was obvious that our night was over,” Cox said. “But I'd really like to thank Gearhart Racing for everything they've done. They worked very hard on short notice to put this truck in the field and you couldn't ask for a better crew.”

Cox will move to the ED CO Racing team for this weekend's JEGS.com 100 ARCA Truck Series race in Xenia, Ohio. The team is scheduled to test at Columbus Motor Speedway on Thursday.
