Sopwith Motorsports will significantly increase its on-track activity for 2014 with 19 races spread over 10 weekends, compared to 11 races in 2013. The team's schedule includes 6 road course races and 13 oval events spanning Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Illinois.
The team will tour with the Mid-American Stock Car Series, the premier series for GM metric chassis stock cars, to tracks including the Milwaukee Mile and Wisconsin International Raceway. Sopwith has partnered with Acorn Cabinetry Racing to field the #22 Boschett Timepieces Chevy, equipped with a 450 horsepower V8 engine and Hoosier racing radials.
Sopwith returns to road racing this season with 6 events in the COMMA GT Challenge Series. The team car will compete in the Production Stock A class with a Chris Mahurin-built vintage Datsun 280z sportscar powered by a Kishner 2.8-liter engine and shod with Hoosier radial tires.
Both cars are expected to be very competitive. The team's stock car won the 2012 Mid-American title, while Sopwith's road course machine has earned nine wins and two championships.
