Sopwith Motorsports and Kincaid Racing Complete the
Parker 425 Pre-Run
PARKER, ARIZ., January 12, 2010 – Sopwith Motorsports and racing partner, Kincaid Racing, joined more than 100 vehicles on Sunday to test drive the planned course for the upcoming Parker 425 race. The “pre-run” event provided race teams an opportunity to try out the off-road course in a social, non-competitive environment prior to the actual race.

Scott Kincaid (Kincaid Racing) and Stephen Cox (Sopwith Motorsports) will share driving duties for Kincaid Racing’s Trick Truck during the 425-mile desert race, to be held February 6-8. During Sunday’s 140 mile “pre-run”, both drivers took turns piloting the team’s 680-horsepower Porter Prerunner.

“While I’ve hosted television coverage of this race for years, I’ve never really experienced the entire Parker 425 course,” said Cox, who is a 2-time road racing series champion and 13-time race winner. “The course itself is 140 miles long and there are a lot of places that the cameras don’t see. This was a great chance to explore the whole course and become familiar with the terrain as a driver.”
Veteran off-road racer Scott Kincaid will qualify and start the race for the Kincaid team at next month’s Parker 425. Cox will take over driving duties on the second lap.
“This race gives you a little bit of everything — rocks, silt beds, fast straights and sandy washes,” said Kincaid, who scored a top five finish at the Parker 425 in 2008. “It’s a fast course. The elevation is constantly changing and it’s a very challenging event.”

The Parker 425 began in 1972 as a 500-mile event and remains one of the most prestigious off-road racing titles in America. For more details about the 2010 Blue Water Resort & Casino Parker 425, visit the Best in the Desert website (www.bitd.com).
