8/24/11 – USAC sprint car driver Dave Darland of Nine Racing has been selected by Sopwith Motorsports Television Productions to be the first driver featured in the upcoming TV series on the famed Indiana Sprint Week auto racing event.

Darland's racing career began at age 16 and after a quarter century in the cockpit, he has established himself as one of the top open-wheel drivers in the sport. He is among the few racers to have captured national championship titles in Silver Crown cars, sprint cars and midgets.

Sopwith Motorsports Television Productions, producers of USAC's Indiana Sprint Week docu-drama television show, have named Darland as the first of many drivers to be featured in the program. Executive Producer Stephen Cox said, "Dave is so popular with the fans and has such a history in the sport that it just made sense to start the series with him." The show is in final post-production at this time.

USAC will determine the network on which the program will air, and air times. That information has not yet been released by the sanctioning body. The trailer for the series was released in July and may be viewed below.
