INDIANAPOLIS, January 5, 2010 – Kincaid Racings Trick Truck team will return to the Best in the Desert racing series at the legendary Parker 425 (February 6-8) with veteran driver Stephen Cox joining as the teams second driver.
The Kincaid team includes owner Scott Kincaid, who serves as the trucks primary pilot, Ronnie Markegard and Gary Kincaid. Kincaid Racing has not yet announced which driver will lead off at the Parker 425 or the point at which the driver change will occur during the race.
Stephen and I have been talking about running a race together for over a year and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to make it happen, said Scott Kincaid, who drove Kincaid Racings trick truck to a top five finish at the Parker 425 in 2008.
On January 12-13, Cox will join the rest of the Kincaid team on the Barstow course for a two-day test session supervised by Scott Kincaid, after which the truck will be torn down for race prep.
With more than two decades of driving experience, Cox makes his debut in the Trick Truck class at this years Parker 425. He has previously driven both Rolex and SCCA sports cars, NASCAR stock cars and open cockpit machines on road courses and ovals. For the past four years, Cox has produced and hosted the popular Best in the Desert TV series airing on Fox Sports Network and the Outdoor Channel.
Im still fairly new to desert racing and really appreciate Scott putting me in the Kincaid truck, said Cox, who is a 13-time race winner and two-time road racing series champion. The challenges of reading the terrain and handling a truck of this weight are going to be exciting. I cant expect to morph into a Larry Ragland clone in just one lap, but fortunately with a veteran like Scott leading our team, I dont have to. I look forward to racking up some miles, running a steady pace and helping the team to a solid finish.
The 2010 Blue Water Resort & Casino Parker 425 will be held this February in Parker, Ariz. The Parker event, first held in the early 1970s, is considered one of the crown jewels of desert racing. For more details about the race, visit the Best in the Desert website (www.bitd.com).
