Sopwith Motorsports will get an early start on the busy 2013 racing season when the team competes this weekend in Round 1 of the COMMA Challenge Series at Tulsa's 1.8-mile Hallett Motor Racing Circuit.
Driver Stephen Cox anticipates running in as many as four different racing series this year and wants to use the event to stay sharp. "Most of my friends drive go karts to stay in shape during the off season, but I enjoy sports cars a little more," Cox said. "We're going to relax and enjoy the weekend. We're not running for points, I just want to stay in shape and log a few laps."
Although weather has canceled Saturday's testing sessions, the series will still hold two race events on Sunday. Sopwith will compete in both races, entering a vintage Datsun 280z in Production Stock A. The car is getting new graphics and lettering this week in preparation for the event.
