Sopwith to Produce 1-Hour Special on Velocity

Sopwith Motorsports Television Productions will produce the upcoming MV Agusta motorcycle feature program for Discovery's "Velocity" network according to a new agreement reached last week.

The program will feaure the remarkable 71-bike collection of enthusiast Gary Kohs, which will be sold in a one-of-a-kind auction at Monterey in August.

"On a trip to Italy I had the occasion to see a restored Disco Volante sitting next to a restored Ovunque Scooter," Kohs said. "Each was a piece of art in its own right. I was blown away. As I got more involved I realized that MV Agusta was the only motorcycle company in the world that could tell the postwar story of the motorcycle."

"I began looking around the United States for bikes, but there were very few because MV Agusta had never been imported into the U.S. except for a short period when the 750S America was sold by Cosmopolitan Motors. It became apparent very quickly that I would have to put an MV collection together abroad with the primary focus being Italy."

The Kohs collection remains the only one of its kind in the world.

Sopwith's production will feature previously unseen footage of the MV Agusta collection, as well as new interview footage with Kohs and the Mecum Auction staff. The entire collection will be filmed on location in Wisconsin.

The program will air throughout the spring and summer of 2012. See Velocity's web site for listings.
