Sopwith Motorsports will take a break from oval racing with the Mid-American Stock Car Series tour and travel to Tulsa this weekend for a club race at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit.

The team is looking for redemption after two certain wins slipped away in recent events. Sopwith's Hoosier Tire/Boschett Timepieces Datsun was leading with five laps remaining in its last appearance at Hallett when it was hit from behind and spun out. Sopwith's stock car was leading on the final lap at State Park Speedway's oval last month when driver Stephen Cox was passed at the finish line for a disappointing second place finish.

“We need to finish P1,” Cox said. “I don't care if it's one of the big events or a club race. We just need to win. We're running well and putting ourselves in a good position, but we have to finish strong. We can't take anything for granted until the checkers come out.”

Sopwith's vintage 1975 Datsun 280z sports car will compete in the Production Stock A class of the GT Challenge Series. Two race events are scheduled for the weekend. Cox has raced in the series for several years, winning 10 times and posting two championship titles.

Results will be posted here shortly after the events.
