SOPWITH MOTORSPORTS STARTS NEW SEASON MAY 25

Indianapolis, IN – Sopwith Motorsports will expand its presence in automotive competition this season by competing in both road racing and desert racing.

The team will open its season May 25 at Tulsa, Oklahoma in the Championship Motorsports Association, where Sopwith driver Stephen Cox has two previous championship titles to his credit.

“We won’t be running for points this season,” says Cox, a 13-time winner and former Rookie of the Year. “Our television commitment with the Best in the Desert Series is keeping us busy and we’re going to miss the first four events, so there’s no reason to worry about points. We’ll probably do about eight road racing events.”

Later in the season the team plans to enter Greg Foutz’s Ford F-250 in the Bilek Racing Silver State 300. It will be Cox’s first attempt at desert racing. Cox said, “Yeah, I’m really looking forward to the experience. Its pretty cool of Greg to put me in his Fabtech truck. We’re not going to try and set the world on fire… our main goal will be to care for the equipment and finish the race. I just want to acclimate to desert racing before we start really pushing to win.”

Two more off road events are being planned by Sopwith Motorsports later in the season, including the team’s first short course outing. Watch for more updates on the team’s official web site, www.SopwithMotorsports.com.
