April 13, 2011 (Indianapolis) Sopwith Motorsports Television Productions collaborated with the TV crew from Mecum: Muscle Cars and More to produce the first in a series of new commercials today at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
The new commercials will highlight the spectacular collector cars to be sold at upcoming Mecum auto auctions in Monterey, Dallas, St. Charles, and next months Spring Classic in Indianapolis. Todays shoot featured an incredible array of automobiles including:
· Ferrari Daytona GTB/4
· 1963 Shelby Cobra 289
· 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 R code 427
· 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible
· 1964 Mercury Marauder
· 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle 454
Stephen Cox, who co-anchors Mecum: Muscle Cars and More on HD Theater, is hosting the commercial series. This is really fun because were working with so many of the same people who shoot Mecums TV show, Cox said. Everybody here loves classic cars and knows the production routine, so its really an enjoyable experience.
Sopwith Motorsports Television Productions will also provide scripting, talent, producer and production assistants for three more commercials to be shot this weekend near Chicago. This weekends shoot will highlight the famed Nickey collection of Mike Guarise in Barrington, Illinois.
Chicagos Nickey Chevrolet was once the largest Chevy dealer in the world and the source of what are now some of the rarest and fastest Chevrolets ever built. Throughout the 1960s and 70s, the Nickey dealership produced a series of cars with more powerful engines, superior suspension and upgraded transmissions. The surviving cars are now among the most sought-after Chevy muscle cars in America.
The Guarise Nickey Chevys to be featured in this weekends shoot include a 1968 Chevelle 4-speed L78, a 1967 Stage III Camaro and 1968 Corvette with a 430-horsepower, 427-cubic inch V8.
The commercials will begin airing on HD Theater on April 21st in preparation for the Spring Classic Auction to be held May 17-22 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. HD Theater will provide live coverage of the event on May 18-21.
