Indianapolis, IN – Sigal Racing will field both a car and a Jeepspeed series truck at the upcoming Best in the Desert Henderson’s Fabtech Desert Classic in Henderson, Nevada. The team’s car entry will be driven by series regular and class points leader Sigal Greenburg.

The #1768 Sigal Racing Jeep will be piloted by Sopwith Motorsports driver Stephen Cox, a veteran oval and road racer whose career has produced 13 wins, a GT-2 road racing championship and the CMA Rookie of the Year title. The one-race deal is backed by sponsorship from Mobile Radio Communications and G-Force Racing Gear. After driving NASCAR stockers, Rolex GT racers, winged formula cars and dirt cars, Cox will get his first-ever miles in desert racing during a California testing session on November 14th and 15th.

“We’re going to log a lot of miles,” Cox said of the upcoming test. “I’ve been driving racecars for a long time but asphalt experience doesn’t really apply that much in desert racing, so this is like starting over. I think the biggest challenges will be to make sure we go the distance by driving within what the Jeep will do, and learning to read the terrain. If I can manage to do those two things, I think we’ve got a shot preserving the vehicle, finishing the race, and getting a good jump on next season. I’m looking for a full-season ride in ’09 and a good finish at Henderson would be a nice start.”

Cox’s co-driver will be Lee Creiglow, a veteran crew chief, navigator and car builder for more than 20 years in the sport. Cox and Creiglow will go the distance at the Henderson’s Fabtech race without a relief driver or change of navigator. The front suspension of the Sigal Racing Jeep has just been rebuilt in preparation for this event.

The Best in the Desert Henderson’s Fabtech Desert Classic is scheduled for December 6th in Henderson, Nevada. The race will be televised in 31 million US households through MavTV and the America One Sports Network.
