For the first time in nine years, a Mecum Auctions show will go on air without co-host Stephen Cox who is recovering from burns received in a racing incident at Circuit of the Americas on February 13th.
Cox has been racing against time for the last three weeks to be ready for the Mecum Kansas City show. He was released from San Antonio's Brooke Army Medical Center burn unit a week early and has been ahead of schedule on all therapy and burn treatments, but will still come up a few days short.
“I still have a few facial burns that are in the final stages of healing, and the burns on my right leg still limit my mobility,” Cox said. “I think if we had just a few more days I could be ready, but we don't. We have the best TV crew in the business and I'll be cheering them on from my living room this weekend.”
The first Mecum Kansas City show airs live on NBCSN this Saturday from 12:30-3:00 pm Eastern with co-hosts Scott Hoke, John Kraman and Bill Stephens.
Mecum Houston airs on NBCSN from April 14-16.
