Cox Seeks Career Win #26 at Daytona International Speedway

Indianapolis racing driver Stephen Cox will re-unite with an old friend next month to tackle the 14 Hours of Daytona in the Champcar Endurance Series with backing from Precision Classic Cars, Cars and Convos, Stabil Brand Fuel Stabilizer and Geezzup.

Cox met team owner A. J. Frank when he was providing Speed Channel’s pit coverage of the Hooters Pro Cup Series in the early 2000’s. After a successful oval career in Pro Cup, ARCA and NASCAR, Frank now operates Lowcountry Motorsports Management out of South Carolina. His Lowcountry team will field a Ford Mustang GT for Cox and a strong team of drivers in the April 6 event in Daytona, Florida.

“A. J. is super competitive and he races to win,” Cox said. “We talk every now and then but I haven’t actually seen him in years, so this is going to be a lot of fun. He’s talented as an owner, driver and mechanic so when the seat was offered, I jumped at it. I think we’re going to have a competitive run and a chance to win.”

The event kicks off a 12-race season for Cox with stops at legendary tracks including Daytona, Road America and Sebring. The former GT Challenge Series champion hopes to erase a dry spell that kept him out of victory lane last year. His last win came at an oval track in the 2022 season finale.

Live stream and media coverage details will be posted on this site prior to the event on April 6th.
