NUMBER FIVE - "WANNA WIN? YOU NEED A TRAILER LIKE THAT."
So said a racing friend in the summer of 1986 at Bloomington Speedway. We were walking past a huge semi tractor-trailer loaded with two spare chassis, half a dozen engines and a crew of ten mechanics. It belonged to some teenager named Jeff Gordon who was supposed to be the next big thing in racing. We all know how that turned out.

I confess that I am a muscle car guy. Can't help it. I grew up cruising Mustangs and Torino's on the strip on Saturday night. But after watching Mecum Auctions sell Porsche 550-0077 for over 3.7 million dollars at Monterey last weekend, I couldn't help but be impressed with the little machine.

“Say, don't anti-lock braking systems shorten stopping distances?”
Nope. An ABS-equipped car cannot stop a single millimeter shorter than a non-ABS car. Read the fine print. ABS proponents create a statistical advantage by frequently comparing ABS to “locked braking,” which is the act of smashing the brakes in a panic.
Mid-American Series Television Package Announced

The Mid-American Stock Car Series has agreed to a television package that provides national, regional, and online exposure to the series and its sponsors for much of the 2013 season. Through a partnership with Sopwith Motorsports Television Productions of Indianapolis, the series will be televised in more than 50 million homes as part of “Sopwith Motorsports TV.”
